Song for this post: "Baby's Got Sauce" ~ G Love & Special Sauce
"Almost half of men and 69 percent of women surveyed said they were 'committed to avoiding pregnancy,' but for a significant number of them, that commitment doesn't come with precautionary measures, as 40 percent said birth control doesn't matter: 'when it is your time to get pregnant, it will happen.'"
You know, regardless of political position or religious view, every human being has the right to be equipped with the tools they need to make educated decisions about their body, their life, and the lives of their offspring. The fact that 40% of young adults still think that "when it is your time to get pregnant, it will happen" is just ludicrous. To deny a person that right is to deny them knowledge and denying that person the right to be educated is to strip them of a basic human right.
I don't understand how our government doesn't want people making stupid decisions (like having a ton of unprotected sex and a gajillion abortions or unwanted children that force them to live off the system) but then deliberately put people in situations that are prime for stupid decisions (like denying basic sexual education). It's a bit hypocritical and totally insane.

It just never fails to astonish me how backward this country is in regard to sexual health, unwanted pregnancies, abortion, and maternity care (amongst so many other politically charged issues).
What is it going to take for us to realize as a majority that women's health directly relates to the health and prosperity of the population as a whole?!? As the vessels of human life (and thus, population control) I'd say it matters a bunch.
But hey...what do I know? I'm just some educated woman from a liberal state.
Makes me glad that i got a vasectomy on Friday. Talk about birth control...
